HMC (Hardware Management Console)

A Hardware Management Console (HMC) is an appliance used to configure and control one or more IBM Power servers, called managed systems. It creates and manages logical partitions, activates Capacity Upgrade on Demand and relays system information to IBM support. If the HMC fails, the server keeps running, but its partitions cannot be reconfigured.
