Datastore (vSphere)

In vSphere, a datastore is a logical container, similar to a file system, that hides the details of the physical storage and gives virtual machines a uniform model for storing their files. It can also hold ISO images, VM templates and floppy images. Supported types are VMFS, NFS, vSAN and Virtual Volumes.

✓XorMon monitors the configuration and performance of VMware datastores, including vSAN based datastores.
✓For VMware, XorMon graphs disk performance in MB/sec, IOPS and latency in ms, and disk usage in GB.
✓The VMware Topology view shows the logical connections between virtual machines, datastores and storage volumes, and it is available from the page of each datastore (tab Topology).
✓Topology offers an overview, a view of all connections, a custom view and an interactive map: clicking a VM highlights its path to the datastore and the storage volume.
